UNCONFIRMED: Saylor’s post is real. A new Strategy Bitcoin acquisition is not established by it.
Three words, one chart, and the crypto rumor machine has its Sunday programming. Michael Saylor posted “Connecting the dots” on X on November 8. Traders and news outlets read the familiar portfolio-tracker format as a hint that Strategy may disclose another Bitcoin purchase. The hint is real. A new acquisition is not established by the hint.
We checked the original post directly through the public X tools, rather than relying on a screenshot passed around by someone else. The message did not give a coin amount, an execution price, a funding source or an updated holdings total. Blockonomi explicitly called a fresh buy unconfirmed; CoinGape also described the post as a suggestion, not a filing.
What the last actual filing says
Strategy’s November 2 disclosure provides the baseline. It reported acquiring 811 BTC for $65.5 million between October 26 and November 1, taking its holdings to 849,327 BTC as of November 1. Those are confirmed historical numbers. They should not be recycled as the size of a new, still-undisclosed purchase simply because another Sunday chart has appeared.
The financing matters too. The SEC disclosure says the earlier Bitcoin purchase used proceeds from MSTR common-stock sales. A separate $208.2 million STRC preferred-share repurchase used USD Cash. Those are different transactions. A social post does not reveal whether the company repeated either one, changed the mix or made no additional acquisition at all.
There is a perfectly plausible reason investors watch Saylor’s pattern: similar posts have preceded treasury updates. A repeated pattern is still a forecast, not a settlement confirmation. The next company disclosure can validate the expectation, disappoint it or complicate it with an entirely different capital move. Until that document arrives, the honest badge on this story is UNCONFIRMED. We have the originating post and multiple outlets discussing it. We do not have permission to turn a suggestive chart into coins on the balance sheet.
